A lift chair is something you'll use many times a day for years. Electropedic has been fitting people to beds and chairs since 1964, and our Phoenix showroom carries one of the Valley's widest selections of Pride and Golden lift chair recliners.

The Golden Relaxer PR766 is the power lift chair recliner that first introduced Golden Technologies' patented MaxiComfort positioning. It has become one of Golden's most requested chairs because it gets the fundamentals right: a soft but supportive seat, a back you can adjust, a lift that brings you to your feet smoothly, and recline positions that go far beyond a regular recliner.
The latest version refreshes the design with super plush rounded armrests, an adjustable three-pillow waterfall back, an updated side pocket and an extra-wide chaise pad that supports your lower legs. Every Relaxer comes with Golden's programmable AutoDrive hand control, and Golden builds it in the USA with domestic and imported materials.
This guide walks through everything our Phoenix staff explains in the showroom, so you can arrive knowing which size, fabric and options to try.
The Relaxer is a strong choice if you want real therapeutic positioning without paying for the most elaborate features. It fits people who:
If you need a tilt that cradles your whole body, Golden's Twilight chairs may suit you better. We compare them further down this page.
A basic lift chair moves the back and footrest together, so every position is a compromise. The Relaxer splits the chair into two comfort zones that you control separately with the AutoDrive hand control.
Raises the footrest and chaise to support your legs, from a slight lift up to feet above the heart.
Moves the back independently, from upright reading to a deep, near-flat recline for sleeping.
Because each zone moves on its own, you can reach positions a standard recliner can't, including a zero gravity style position with your legs raised and back reclined to take pressure off the spine. You can also recline fully with your feet above your heart, sometimes called the Trendelenburg position, to help with circulation.
Once you find a position you love, save it. The AutoDrive hand control has four programmable memory buttons, so your favorite TV, reading and nap positions are each one press away.
Getting the size right matters more than any other choice. Seated, your feet should rest flat on the floor with your knees close to a right angle, and the back pillows should meet your head and shoulders. A chair that's too tall leaves your feet dangling; one that's too short makes standing harder even with the lift.
Height guides are a starting point only. Leg length, hip width and how you like to sit all change the answer, which is why we measure you in the showroom.

Dimensions are Golden Technologies' published figures. Golden notes that sizes can vary slightly with fabric, filling, upholstery and carpet thickness. Height ranges are general guidance from the retail trade, not a Golden specification.
Lift chairs need more room than their footprint suggests, because the chair moves forward when it lifts and stretches out when it reclines. Measure before you visit.
Golden builds its lift chair frames from northern maple hardwood, double doweled at stress points, and inspects each chair from its Old Forge, Pennsylvania factory before it ships.
The Relaxer comes standard in Golden's Tucker fabric, a soft, modern weave with SofTouch Stain Defense coating. It's offered in five colors.

SterlingGolden's crossover fabrics can be special ordered for an upcharge. Many Phoenix customers ask about Brisa, a leather-look fabric that stays breathable and doesn't stick to your skin in the summer heat, and Alta, a high-performance fabric with a liquid barrier that's easy to clean. Custom fabric orders take longer to build, and chairs ordered in upgraded fabrics are usually not returnable, so we'll show you real samples first.
The Relaxer doesn't offer a power headrest, power lumbar, USB charging port or Nirvana massage with HeatWave. If those matter to you, ask us to show you the Golden models that include them.
| Component | Coverage |
|---|---|
| Chair frame, lift frame and recline mechanism | Lifetime |
| Electrical parts | 3 years, then pro-rated in years 4 through 7 |

Labor coverage is only useful if someone local will actually come out. As an authorized Golden dealer in Phoenix, Electropedic handles warranty service on the chairs we sell directly.
The Relaxer is an FDA Class II medical device. Depending on your eligibility and medical necessity, Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurance plans may partially reimburse the lift mechanism portion of the chair. The rest of the chair, including upholstery and recline features, is typically your cost.
You'll generally need a prescription and supporting documentation from your doctor. Call us and we'll explain what paperwork to bring.
Most Phoenix shoppers narrow it down to two or three Golden chairs. Here's how the Relaxer sits in the lineup.
